1st DoQuP Training Seminar on “Methodologies and procedures of definition, gathering, elaboration and presentation of information and data for quality assurance of study programmes: experiences and best practices”

The aim of DoQuP project is the definition and implementation of an on-line documentation system for the quality assurance of study programmes in the partner countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan) consistent with the European standards for quality assurance, in order to promote their quality, transparency and comparability at national and international level.

The first step of the project has been the definition of the DoQuP standards for quality assurance of study programmes in partner countries and of the associated quality requirements. Then for each quality requirement the DoQuP information and data to be documented in order to provide evidence of the study programme quality have been identified. The third step of the project is the definition of appropriate methodologies and procedures of definition, gathering, elaboration and presentation of the identified information and data.

The aim of the first training seminar of the DoQuP project was to introduce experiences and best practices of the European countries partners of the project on methodologies and procedures for the management of the documentation for quality assurance of study programmes.

The seminar was hosted and organised by the Faculty of Civil Engineering (SvF) of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) in Bratislava.

On 10th October, after the welcome to SvF-STU by Jan Szolgay, First Deputy Dean and Vice-Dean for Science Research and Foreign Relations at SvF-STU, Andrej Soltesz, Former Vice-Dean for International Relations at SvF-STU, presented the Study Programmes for Foreign Students at STU.

Then the project coordinator introduced the DoQuP information and data for the quality assurance of study programmes already approved by the Project Board, followed by the other presentations of the first day of seminar:

  • Monitoring of the adequacy and effectiveness of the educational process perceived by students, by Peter Makys, Vice-Dean for Education at SvF-STU;
  • Monitoring and presentation of the results of the educational process, by Marian Dubik, On-line AIS Academic Information System manager - SvF-STU;
  • Organisation and management of the student support services, by Marianna Frajkova, On-line AIS Academic Information System manager - SvF-STU.

In the morning of 11th October the project coordinator presented the DoQuP project to Frantisek Hornak, Vice-Rector for Education - SvF-STU, who in turn welcome all the participants and presented STU.

The presentations of the second day followed:

  • On-line management of information and data for quality assurance of study programmes, by Simone Ravaioli, Director of International Affairs-CINECA;
  • Management of the information about student support services in the Quality Assurance System, by Angela Ribeiro and Viviana Zanon, Quality Assurance Sector-University of Bologna, on behalf of CRUI.

A round table on the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of the Bologna process in the European countries partners of the project, with presentations by Guillermo Bernabeu, University of Alicante, for Spain, Alfredo Squarzoni, University of Genoa, for Italy and Eva Jankovichova, SvF-STU, for Slovak, concluded the second day of the seminar.

The presentations of the third day were:

  • The TUNING approach to the definition of educational objectives, learning outcomes and curriculum of a study programme, by Jozef Gasparik, Professor at SvF-STU;
  • Management system and initiatives for the promotion of quality: the process of revision and improvement, by Eva Jankovichova, DoQuP Project Coordinator, SvF-STU;
  • Methods and procedures of students’ learning assessment: strength and weakness points, by Gabriela Pavlendova, Lecturer at SvF-STU.

A summing-up concluded the seminar.
